Synopsis
This session explores pathways of commercialising technology from the lab to the market. Drawing on exemplary cases of academia-led tech transfer from leading institutions in Europe, we will examine key success factors for the technology transfer process. Particularly, we aim to answer the questions below. How do we decide whether a technology should be commercialised? What are the strategies for generating commercial values from IP? What should researchers be cautious about during the commercialisation process? How do we scale up technology commercialisation - is spin-out the best answer? How should negotiations be handled when private investments are involved? How can inventors directly profit from their innovations?
